It helps staff to get a clearer picture of the client’s needs and also provides the client with some information about treatment. It is important that each person is accompanied by a family member or close friend. At this point a person will usually be given a date for admission once the assessment has been completed and admission criteria agreed.
As part of the journey into residential treatment, an assessment is carried out at White Oaks where the client meets with a counsellor for approximately 1 hour.
